- Position reports directly to the President-Power Group. Coordinates and collaborates with Business Segment Vice Presidents in a matrix structure with regard to International Business and Projects pertaining to those Business Segments. Responsible for overseeing the Power Group’s International Business and Theaters. Assumes the leadership role to develop and implement the Power Group International Business Plan. Collaborates with other CH2M HILL Business Units and theater operations to develop and promote the Power Group’s International business activities. Coordinates and participates with Business Development and Tendering in securing new contracts and takes a leadership role in the negotiation phase.
- Position reports directly to the President of the Power Group.
- Coordinates with and is accountable to other Business Segment Vice Presidents in a matrix structure with regard to International Business and Projects pertaining to those Business Segments.
- Establishes and manages Power Group International Theater operations and International regional offices.
- Provides guidance and assistance to support successful execution of Power Group International contracts and projects, including specific guidance relating to local business practices, cultural interface and operational protocols.
- Accountable for Power Group International business objectives including Safety, Quality, Schedule Compliance and Financial goals.
- Financial goals and objectives include business volume, gross margin and International operating expenses.
- Participate in the proposal process to secure new contracts and takes a leadership role in the negotiation phase.
- Participate with and support Business Development, the Tendering team and Power Group Management in the identification of potential clients, opportunities, development of business plans and proposals.
- Assume an active leadership role in establishing and developing partner relationships in support of the Power Group business.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the Power Group International Business Plan.
- Develop and implement associated Power Group Theater Plans in conjunction with and supporting the Power Group International Business Plan.
- Coordinate with CH2M HILL regional operations and regional management in the development and implementation of such plans.
- Ensure that all Power Group International business and International activities are conducted in an ethical and professional manner in compliance with CH2M HILL corporate standards, US and applicable International laws/regulations (inclusive of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and/or equivalents), and local laws/regulations.
- Ensure that all Power Group International business and contracts are governed by an acceptable, internationally recognized code of law and court of jurisdiction.
- Establish and manage Power Group International regional offices and Power Group Theater Managers in targeted, selected regions.
- Provide guidance and assistance to Project Managers and Project Teams assigned to International projects.
- Provide International and Theater management support to International Project Managers.
- Participate in the Senior Management review and approval of International Project Executions Plans (PEP) and that such plans are consistent with the defined International Business Plan, Management approved Project Implementation Strategy and meets ICG/Corporate requirements.
- Participates in OCEO reviews as required.
- Assist the responsible Business Segment Vice President in overall monthly review of Projects
- Participate in regular project reviews with project staff, senior management and the client.
- Take a Leadership role as may be requested in resolution of issues impacting project implementation.
- Ensure that Senior Management and International Project Managers are informed of International or Regional developments/issues that could impact the Power Group’s International business or potentially effect profit, costs, schedules, and/or client relations.
- Ensure that the Power Group Contracts Manager is included as required in the development and review of International business, contracts, policies and procedures.
- Develop the managing abilities of subordinates through goal setting, training, counseling, and standards of performance, employee assessments, and management training programs.
- Participate in business development activities and promotes productive client relationships.
- Time and Expense report approval for Theater Managers.
- Responsible to ensure that employee’s PEP are completed for all direct reports and to ensure that appropriate PEP inputs are provided in a timely fashion such that PEP’s for all employees are done no later than January 31st for each calendar year.
- Ensure that the use of Best Value Engineering resources are being maximized on all projects
- Assume a lead role as part of the Power team to expand our Best Value Engineering resources
- Take a Leadership role to ensure that International Projects are active in the local community and develop positive community relations in each region and/or project locale..
- Develop and establish contacts/relationships with Suppliers, Subcontractors and Partners to support success of projects and achievement of Power Group objectives.
- Develop Key Client relationships
Qualifications:
• College degree (Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience.
• 20 - 25 years experience in engineering and construction of Power Plant or relevant Power Generation equipment.
• 10+ Years International experience
• 10+ Years Project Management experience
• 5 + Years with Senior Management and/or P&L responsibility
• Advanced management training.
• An MBA and professional certification as a PE and/or PPM (Professional Project Manager) would be desirable
• Proficient in managing and directing people, communications (both written and verbal), negotiation skills, computer skills with Microsoft Office products and corporate standards. Broad based commercial and technical competence relating to development, design, construction and commissioning of large scale projects (preferably Power Plant related).
